Lasik surgery

Lasik surgery is a surgery performed to avoid the use of contact lenses and glasses. People who find glasses, contacts unattractive or uncomfortable, perform lasik surgery to correct their vision problems.
The most common type of surgery is LASIK -laser assisted in situ kerotomileusis. The surgery is performed to correct the vision in people having nearsightedness, farsightedness, or astigmatism.
In human beings, cornea works as a lens of a camera. It creates an image on retina by focusing light. If cornea shape is not perfect then retina gets blurred image. These errors are known as refractive errors. Glasses or lenses try to reduce refractive errors. If you want to avoid the use of glasses or lenses, then lasik surgery is a good option.
Surgery is performed under local anesthesia. It clears front part of eye and reshapes cornea permanently, which changes its focusing power. An excimer laser is used to clear the front covering of eye. Microkeratome is a knife used to cut a flap in cornea.
A surgeon leaves a center at one end of this flap. Then flap folding carried out followed by enlightening stroma, the middle section of cornea. It lasts for ten minutes.
After surgery, light traveling through cornea focuses on retina properly to get a clear image.
