diarrhoea

Passing stool naturally is one of the most important activities of our daily routine. However, we often come across problems in passing the stool naturally. Diarrhoea is one such problem which is associated with improper bowel movements. Mild bouts of food-borne illness and food poisoning are the two most common causes of diarrhoea. Sometimes, diarrhoea can also be caused as a result of viruses. Some of the other causes of diarrhoea include:
Quick passing of food residue through colon can result in inadequate absorption of moisture and nutrients.
The roots of Oregon grape and goldenseal contain berberine which acts as an antimicrobial agent. Berberine is found to be effective against harmful food-borne bacteria and other alkaloids.
They also help in decreasing colon secretion which eventually results in minimizing the occurrences of diarrhoea. Berberine also acts as immune stimulator that provides protection against viral diarrhoea.
These herbs are also helpful in treating the serious cases of diarrhoea. These herbs can be taken as tea or tincture.
All geranium and red raspberry leaves are useful for treating diarrhoea by helping the colon to contract.
Mullein also helps in reducing the occurrences of diarrhoea by reducing inflammation of the digestive tract.
Chamomile, fennel, and peppermint are also helpful in soothing the lining of the colon. Psyllium seeds and husks can also help to treat diarrhoea.
They provide bulk to slow down the passage of liquid material through the large intestine. They must be taken at frequent intervals and shall not be taken with prunes, figs and dates.
